Each standardized test has it’s own idiosyncrasies, but all of them seek to measure some combination of content knowledge and reasoning skills.

For more content-based tests, such as AP’s (Advanced Placement Tests) and SAT Subject Tests, our tutors use their expertise in the topic to map out a program of study for each student and to insure that students cover, master and memorize the requisite material.

The other admissions tests — SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, SSHSAT, GRE, LSAT, Hunter Test and TACHS – all present reasoning challenges based on simpler content. For these tests, Veritas tutors teach a combination of content, shortcuts and reasoning skills. Our students learn a method that helps them become disciplined, persistent thinkers.

For many students, raising reading levels also plays a crucial part in test preparation. The Veritas Reader helps us accomplish that goal by providing tutors and students with a current, constantly evolving, tagged and categorized list of links to articles of interest from all over the web.
